World Two Map - Sure, fractals and perlin noise are a nice way to make a map, but FFS look at dat Ocean.

November 2011

World Two Spawn Building

The second world, beginning several days into November began with the same spawn design that had been used at the start of November in World one, modified for a desert biome, and laced with sprinklings of TNT, a sign of things to come.

The world was limited to 20k by 20k (a 10K area from spawn), to keep the players from disappearing off into the wilds and force player interaction.

November was a short-running map, due to the inventory transfer from World 1, and the release of Minecraft 1.0 with it's new terrain features.

Cachu, Futhermucker and others continued with the New Minecraft Republic, and began to actively help new players.

A player called Jaycow started appearing with more frequency on the killer's side of the death list, dispatching new players and targeting the quite visible NMR. The NMR fort was destroyed, it's riches claimed, and several of it's members murdered, forcing the group to be less trusting of new members.

During November, Savoie decided he could no longer keep up with the level of work, and quit from running the server. A community vote was called, and gmxgeek, Jaycow and Jigabot became the new administrators. Jigabot stepped down shortly after to run his own hardcore server, Roxbot.

A player named HELPLESSOLDLADY began slaughtering new players and causing general mayhem, burning down one of the first of DEKMS' Inns, but fortunately a new one had already been constructed some distance away. Later on, she began to lure new players with the promise of melon slices, only to turn up with a diamond sword.

The month was just winding down, with several hundred players dead, when Eliwood's story on /r/minecraft a few days before the end of the month saw a massive increase in new and inexperienced players. Seeing an opportunity for some fun, Random902 and Socrates both went on a killing spree, slaughtering over a hundred new players between them in just a few days, teaching the new players valuable lessons on how not to die next time. By the end of the month, Random902's kill-count exceeded 60 players.

On the 30th of November the very first End of the World came about. The next day would be a complete map and Inventory reset, and excited players gathered in Spawn to see the last moments of the server and engage in their final PvP battles.

Despite Savoie's stepping down he continued to be involved in the server, handing out TNT for the player destruction of Spawn and preparing a simple glass and bedrock Arena for a final showdown between Random902 and EvlonAlpha. Spawn was successfully wrecked, and the players moved over to the glass roof of the Arena to watch the battle. Random902 successfully killed EvlonAlpha, and Savoie quickly removed the glass ceiling, dropping all of the watching players into the PvP enabled box for some more mayhem. Out of all of the dropped players Random902 again emerged victorious.
